A Tale of Two Slings: Peak Design and Amazon Basics

Saw this on Hacker News and thought this was an entertaining jab at Amazon. Peak Design puts a gigantic amount of R&D into their products it is a shame that Amazon came along and copied them. I suppose that’s business though. At least they can laugh about it.

It’s one thing for Basics to produce commodity products, it’s another to produce copies of products by small companies investing a lot into research and design. Remember Amazon’s Allbirds clones?

It seems like bad policy to me. I’m sure Amazon has made the bad PR calculation though and decided to produce these anyways.
