Pre-filled Templates for Topics

I wonder. Should we put default templates on things in #finds or #deals or even #recommendations? It seems like those categories have similar submission types and it might help new members make submissions?

I like the idea in theory, but I’m a bit concerned that it actually ends up in fewer submissions. I’m also curious what questions we should pose in those templates?

Think I’m going to move this to a new topic. It’s a worthwhile discussion, but isn’t related to this post.

Trying to think through what these topic templates might look like. Here’s an intital shot shot:

#finds - Are there better questions we can ask here?

  • [Link]
  • What is it?
  • What’s interesting about it?

#deals - Need to prevent people from posting prices to Amazon.

  • [Link]
  • Deal Details (Enter deal info, such as coupons/rebates. Include specific steps if applicable.)
  • Why are you interested in this product?

#recommendations - This feels pretty good to me. Thoughts?

  • What are you looking for?
  • What are your requirements?
  • Are there any products you’re considering?

I like the overall idea, but should these be questions? Would it not be more straightforward to have them be basic headers?

#finds

  • [Link]
  • Product Details
  • Product Comments

#deals

  • [Link]
  • Deal Details (Enter deal info, such as coupons/rebates. Include specific steps if applicable.)
  • Product Comments

#recommendations

  • I’d like recommendations for
  • Additional Requirements
  • Products I’m currently considering

Also, posting prices is a separate issue. We don’t have much of a problem in the community right now. If someone does post it we can remove price information.

If it does become a problem we can set Deal topics to be approved. Similar to how we handle categories.

Yeah, I’m not sure that we need to worry about issues with submissions. We only deal with a few each day.
